LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – The Clark County grand jury indicted two people this morning that police say were involved in a carjacking and separate robbery on Mother’s Day.

Demone Lewis, 29, and Antonio Chavez, 24, each face two counts each of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery with use of a deadly weapon; and one count each of burglary and preventing or dissuading a witness or victim from reporting a crime. Chavez also faces one felony count of stop required on signal of a police officer.

According to Metro, carjacking happened in the southeast part of the valley about 1:30 a.m. May 11. Around 5 a.m. a person was robbed in the parking structure at South Point Hotel and Casino, 9777 S Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Officers soon located the suspect vehicle in the 8400 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South and pursued it, making a stop at North Mojave and East Cedar, according to Lt. Jack Owen.

A pit maneuver was used to corner the vehicle, but a third, unindicted suspect was impaled against a fence. He remains at UMC but is not expected to survive his injuries. If the third suspect does survive, prosecutors say he will then be indicted.

Bail was set at $500,000 each for Lewis and Chavez. Their next hearing is set for 8:15 a.m. June 11.

Also indicted today was Donald Sidney Rogers, who faces a felony count of trafficking in a controlled substance. Prosecutors say Rogers was found with a kilogram of cocaine and was in the process of selling it when he was apprehended.
