(NBC News) The clean up continues in the wake of 16 deadly tornados that raked across north Texas late Wednesday.
One of the hardest hit towns was Granbury, just southwest of Fort Worth.
As the community begins to sort through the mess the storm left behind, some are uncovering much more than twisted metal and splintered wood.
Mixed in with all of the debris, Lynn English has uncovered snap-shots of neighbors lives, keepsakes and mementos including letters written by neighbors who perished in the tornado.
"It's a love letter in 1966, October 16th, 1966, and I would say that it was probably in a dresser or something because it was just a really sweet letter," English said. "I don't want to go into it, but I cried when I read it."
She wants to make sure the letter gets back to their family.
