LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – A collision on Decatur Boulevard triggered a seven-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon, sending several people to the hospital, including one with life-threatening injuries.

The incident started just before 3 p.m. on Decatur just north of Cheyenne Avenue. Witnesses tell the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department that a 1997 Ford Explorer traveling southbound on Decatur struck the left side of a stopped 1998 Chevrolet pickup, which was hauling a 35-foot utility trailer.

The Explorer, while straddling both left-turn lanes, struck the rear of a 2012 Kia Soul, a 2008 Ford Mustang and 2012 Dodge Journey.

The Kia was pushed over the median into northbound lanes, striking a 1998 Ford pickup.

The pickup was pushed into the center travel lane, hitting a 2000 Ford pickup.

With exception of both Ford pickups, all occupants were transported to UMC Trauma. The driver of the 1998 Ford Explorer was admitted with serious injuries. The rear passenger of the 2012 Kia Soul was admitted with life-threatening injuries, while the front passenger sustained serious injuries. All other occupants were released with minor injuries.

This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigations Section.
