LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- A confessed killer, who claims he was working as a Metro informant, was back in court Monday.

Raul "Sparks" Gonzalez tried to "take back" his guilty plea on a robbery charge in December, but the judge denied that request.

Meantime, attorneys representing the victim's family requested the names of five Metro officers involved in Gonzalez' release be revealed. That request was also denied over safety concerns.

Gonzalez confessed to shooting Eric Montoya less than three weeks after he was released.

He says that was to work as an "informant" with a special gang task force.

News 3 has learned two of the Metro officers on that task force have since been removed from the unit.

"Is it an admission that mistakes were make? Certainly, certainly. People don't get disciplined for good performance.  I think it is evidence that at least 2 people violated protocol or otherwise made mistakes that Metro took issue with," he said.

A sentencing hearing for Gonzalez' robbery conviction is scheduled for September 5. A trial date for the murder charge for killing Montoya will likely be scheduled for October.
