LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities in Las Vegas say a woman and her 10-year-old daughter were bludgeoned to death in a home where a 9-year-old boy told elementary school officials the bodies could be found.
With the boy's 39-year-old father still hospitalized in critical condition with similar injuries, investigators spent a third day Wednesday slowly collecting evidence in the three-bedroom home.
Las Vegas police Lt. Clinton Nichols pleaded for patience, saying no one has been identified as a suspect and no arrests have been made.
Clark County Coroner Michael Murphy classified the deaths of 38-year-old Ignacia Martinez and her daughter, Karla Martinez, as homicides.
The boy's 4-year-old brother was found unharmed in the house.
Officials say both boys remain in protective custody with the Clark County Department of Family Services.
