HENDERSON (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- The often-delayed water park on the east side of the valley has set July 4 for its official opening.
Cowabunga Bay officials confirmed today that the 23-acre facility at 900 Galleria Drive will open July 4.
General Manager Shane Huish was expected to provide more details abut the opening at a news conference late Thursday morning.
The leisure water park is training more than 400 employees. The park will include more than 25 water slides and attractions.
The surf-themed water park includes eight slides, giant wave pool, lazy river (the largest in Nevada), food, cabana rentals, VIP areas with a private pool, and “Cowabunga Kids Cove,” a miniature area of the park built especially for kids.
General admission tickets will be available and visitors are also given the option to choose from three types of season passes. Included in these options are “The Super Pass,” “The Season Pass,” “The Value Pass,” as well as senior rates and military pricing.
Because July 4 is the earliest the park will be open, official have offered full or partial refunds to those who previously purcashed season passes.
The park is offering a 30 percent cash refund of the season pass price, or 35 percent in "Cowabunga Cash" that can be spent anywhere at the park, or two free "Bring-A-Friend" day passes good on any day of this season or next season.
Officials will also offer a full refund if requested.
A statement from Cowabunga Bay said, "You will be able to select one of the above options at the time you process your pass at the park. Of course if anyone is unhappy with any of the above options we will be more than happy to give you them a full refund on their total purchase. We apologize for the delay, everyone is working hard to make sure we build a park the community will be proud of and can enjoy for many years to come."
