LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) Ammar Harris' initial intention to plead guilty may have been part of a strategy or maybe even a sign of remorse.

News 3's Gerard Ramalho has been looking into that aspect. One thing's for sure, it was definitely unusual.

It took a lot of people by surprise. Technically he could make a plea at this stage but it's only a arraignment which means his attorney probably hasn't even had a chance to review all the evidence against his client.

A much different demeanor for the accused than we've seen before.

The flamboyant, self-proclaimed pimp we saw on you tube videos is now soft spoken and ready to admit guilt.

Amar Harris' initial plea of guilty was quickly interrupted though, by his public defender who at that point was ready to call for a mental health evaluation of his client.

Criminal defense attorney Chip Siegel believes the initial plea was probably just a misstep.

Harris faces 11 charges stemming from the February incident. The charges that could carry a death sentence.

But Harris' attorney believes there might be a legal defense to some of those charges. Harris also decided to keep his public defender after initially indicating he wanted to fire him.
