NORTH LAS VEGAS -- The city of North Las Vegas is unloading some surplus goods and they could be yours for the right price.
A government auction is being held today at the old city hall on Civic Center. Many of the items are pretty standard like old desks and filing cabinets. Items you expect from a cleaned out office space.
But it wouldn't be fun if there weren't some bizarre things on the block as well, and that stuff is over in the old North Las Vegas jail where you can buy metal bunk beds and mats used by countless prisoners.
Even entire cells are for sale. You get the beds, desks even the sink and toilet. The only problem is, if you buy it, you haul it away.
Diego Melendez with Nellis Auction says there is truly a buyer for everything.
"I'm suprised at the price things sell for. Uou can get a lot of things for $5 if you like," said Diego Melendez of Nellis Auction. "There's a value for everybody. There's something out there for everybody. Like I said, if it just came down to the metal on a piece of a desk thats broken down, people are going to want it."
“The only thing I want are the bunk beds,” adds interested buyer Robert Tangway who sees value in many of the items up for sale. “I can sell them, that's why I'm here.”
Money raised from the auction goes right back to the city of North Las Vegas. If you missed the preview, items can be seen online. The auction starts at 10 a.m.
