LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3)-- The heat is burning up fireworks vendor profits this week.
Everyone may not know this, but most of the firework stands are run by charities and others looking to raise money.
News 3's Sergio Avila is near Lake Mead and Bruce with more on how the heat affects sales.
We're just a couple of days away from the Fourth and for many of these firework stands business has been slow. Vendors are blaming the extreme heat for the slow down.
In North Las Vegas, one stand says their sales are down by at least one third of the sales they did last year.
People just are not coming out because of the weather.
The vendors themselves say they've been spending time and money trying to keep themselves cool as well.
This stands are on the hot asphalt and staying cool is a top priority.
These stands are typically run by charities that use the fourth of july as one if not their only fundraiser for the year.
Fireworks vendor Ginger Caron is raising money to keep her kids in sports. They say they're just going to have to wait it out.
“We've been very slow, very hot very humid, I don't think anybody wants to come out. I don't even want to be out here,” Caron said. “We're blasting ourselves with air, pouring ice down our backs. Doing anything to stay cool.”
