RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - News 4 is still waiting for the chance to sit down with Renown's President and CEO Jim Miller to talk about the recent investigation by the FTC and a lawsuit filed by a group of local cardiologists.

As we reported in a recent Fact Finder investigation, multiple sources tell us the cases and purchases cost Renown at least $15,000,000. While the man in charge at Renown has not been willing to talk to us about it, the hospital has put out a website heart-of-the-matter.org to challenge some of the facts in our stories.

We discovered the website on our own and were not told about it by the hospital, but because we want to be transparent in all of our stories. News 4 wanted to share with you some of Renown's response.

Among the issues addressed:

The $550,000 that Renown paid to the Nevada Attorney General. In our story we referred to that as a fine. Technically that $550,000 was paid to reimburse the Attorney General's Office for legal fees incurred as part of its investigation into Renown. We stand corrected on that.

We also reported that former Sierra Nevada Cardiology doctors had been kicked-off the Hometown Health insurance plan; Hometown Health is owned by Renown. We interviewed two patients who were told by Hometown Health that their doctors, who were part of the lawsuit, were no longer included on the health care plan. Renown now says those patients can continue to see their doctor, but only for a period of 240 days. However after that point there is no guarantee those doctors will still be part of Hometown Health's coverage.

As for our attempts to interview Renown President and CEO Jim Miller the hospital says he was on vacation when the Fact Finder Team made numerous calls to request an interview. He was on vacation during some requests and was not on vacation during other requests. In fact March 29th the Fact Finder Team did call back again and for the first time Mr. Miller has indicated he is willing to be interviewed. We are working on setting that up for next week.

To be clear we stand behind the information in our Fact Finder investigation. We are interested in hearing Renown's side of the story and presenting it to you. Since they have decided to publish some information on this website, we wanted to make you aware of it and pass that information to our viewers.
