LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Nevada political leaders have been meeting with the Department of Energy but do the talks come too late?

New 3’s Mackenzie Warren spoke exclusively with Congresswoman Dina Titus by phone.

For months now Nevada’s elected leaders have been demanding answers from the DOE.

Congresswoman Titus is learning some elected officials may have known more than others and now the attempt the shipment could be too little too late.

Titus tells News 3 she's not sure Nevada can stop a large shipment of radioactive U-233 uranium from being shipped to the Nevada National Security site some 65 miles outside Las Vegas.

The waste is coming from a nuclear lab in oak-ridge, Tennessee....

“Now I made the argument that i dont want cleaning up Oak Ridge just to make Nevada worse--we are not a wasteland and they need to remember that," Titus said.

Titus says according to the DOE, Gov. Brian Sandoval's been talking to them about the delivery since December.
