LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Out with the old, and in with the new-- as 2013 enters the history books, Las Vegas will welcome in the new year with one of the biggest fireworks shows in the nation.
We do this every year, but each year gets bigger, and better. Set-up for America's Party is in full swing both on Fremont Street, and up and down the Strip and that includes firework preps.
News 3 was invited to see the action on top of Treasure Island this morning, one of seven firing locations for the midnight fireworks show. Each shell loaded individually in a pre-set pattern. There will be more than 80-thousand pyrotechnics going off to a soundtrack that ranges from Frank Sinatra, to Robin Thicke.
Fireworks by Grucci has been doing the show for more than 10 years and this year there will be something different.
“We're introducing the count-up on the Stratosphere, which has never been done before here in Las Vegas,” said Donna Grucci Butler, who says her family has beein in the fireworks business since 1850. “And what that is, it will have pyrotechnical effects counting up from 10 seconds to midnight, when it reaches the top of the Stratosphere all 7 locations go off.”
The only thing that could stop this show is high wind.
