One person is dead, another is in the hospital and a suspect is in custody after Sunday afternoon stabbings in central Las Vegas.
Metro watch commander Lt. Craig Klatt said the stabbing happened shortly before 3 p.m. at the Wynn Palm Apartments in the 3600 block of Wynn Road near Twain Avenue on Sunday.
"It was some type of altercation," Klatt said. "We that believe that they all knew each other."
Metropolitan Police officers responded to a fight call at the apartment complex located in the 3700 block of Wynn Road. The officers were dispatched after the LVMPD Dispatch center received a 9-1-1 call concerning the altercation.
Officers arrived and discovered the deceased body of a Hispanic male lying on the grounds of the complex. The victim appeared to have suffered multiple stab wounds. Officers also located another Hispanic male who was suffering from a single stab wound to his left side.
This second victim was transported to University Medical Center where he remains in critical condition. The motive for this incident appears to be a dispute over an illicit drug transaction.
The suspect in these stabbings is identified as 32-year-old Nerio Nava. Nava was arrested and transported to CCDC where he was charged with murder with use of a deadly weapon and attempt murder with a deadly weapon.
The identity of the deceased victim as well as the cause and cause of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s office.
