LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- An 18-year-old former student accused of bringing a gun to a local school campus appeared in court this morning.
Jake Howell is charged with possessing a dangerous weapon on school grounds.
Police arrested him Friday at Northwest Career and Technical Academy. The school is near Tropical Parkway and Durango.
Police say he had an unloaded assault rifle in his car on the school's campus along with ammunition.
Metro and Clark County School District officials had received mass shooting threats leading into Friday in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre on Dec. 14.
