LAS VEGAS -- Four American Red Cross staffers are being mobilized to head to the East Coast to help the relief organization prepare for Hurricane Sandy.
James Smyth and Stanley Thompson are headed to Albany, N.Y., for mass care and sheltering duties. Brooke Flake will go to Washington, D.C., headquarters to held with fundraising duties and Pat Moore is going to Maryland for logistics and transportation needs.
The staffers are expected to leave at various times Sunday or early Monday. They are part of several hundred Red Cross staffers headed to the area.
Red Cross spokesman Lloyd Ziel said in a news release that it is possible that more Las Vegas area staffers will be mobilized, depending on the severity of the hurricane that is expected to hit the heavily populated upper East Coast sometime Monday late afternoon or early evening.
