LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- The girlfriend of the man killed Thursday in a shooting on the Las Vegas Strip held a news conference today to defend him.

May Hagos, 22, wanted to come forward to help clear Kenny Cherry Jr.’s name.

Police say Ammar Harris is the prime suspect in the shooting death of Cherry after getting into an argument with him earlier at Aria's valet. The Maserati Cherry was driving collided with a cab, killing the driver, Michael Bolden, and passenger Sandi Sutton-Wasmund.

Hagos wanted to address accusations that Cherry was a violent pimp.

Hagos says she made a mistake in 2010 when she was arrested for soliciting prostitution. She says it was Cherry who helped her get her life straight.

They had been dating for about three years and says he was never abusive.

She claims one of Cherry's former girlfriends painted him as a violent man during a custody battle out of California.

Hagos says that woman claims to have been beaten by Cherry so she could keep custody of their child.

This new mother gave birth to Cherry's third child two months ago and says their family is hoping the public doesn't forget they're victims.
