HENDERSON -- A 24-year-old Henderson man is accused of committing a rash of tire slashings in his own guard-gated neighborhood early Saturday.

Some victims were left with having to replace up to all four tires on their vehicles.

Andrew Y. Ayala was arrested Saturday afternoon on two felony counts of destruction of property and held on $50,000 bail in the Henderson Detention Center.

Henderson police were called the a home on Indian Bend Drive in the Grand Legacy community near Wigwam Parkway and Valle Verde Drive about 1:50 a.m. by a resident reporting the tires on his car had been slashed

Officers then found that 32 vehicles on Indian Bend Drive, Oakmarsh Drive, Grossinger Court, Alisal Court and Walden Court had tires slashed, with some having three or all four tires destroyed. Officers also found that the suspect had injured himself as there was blood on some of the tires.

One of the victims reported seeing one of his neighbors out around the time of the tire slashings. Another resident had video from a surveillance camera that showed a suspect in a black suit walking up to a car and slashing the tires.

Officers went to Ayala’s home to speak with him. Officers saw a black suit jacket draped over the passenger seat of Ayala’s SUV in the driveway of his mother’s home. He first gave a false name and denied doing anything. Officers also saw a cut on his hand.

He later said he used a 5-inch straight blade knife and threw it in some bushes, but offered no reason or motive. The case is under investigation and Ayala is likely to face additional charges.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to call the Henderson Police Department at (702) 267-4750 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555 or visit www.crimestoppersofnv.com.

Department of Justice employees tamper with their suspect's automobiles with the intention of causing an accident. Corrupt and stupid is a deadly combination.

If insurance does not cover the cost, take the mother to small claims. When you live in a gated community, you have a responsibility for adult children living with you. The cost of the slash tires is more than just the tire, think about the time some lost from work.

He should get one year for each tire. With the way the economy is right now, getting my tire slashed would be a financial disaster for me! ----------------also on another note... $50,000 bail for slashing tires. Why can't the city do this for all the taggers and graffiti scum bags? They cause a lot more "Permanent" damage!
