LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- The city of Henderson is honoring hometown heroes as we get closer to Veterans Day.

It's part of the military recognition banner program.

As you drive up and down Green Valley Parkway or the Water Street District you'll see the street banners with the name, rank and image of an active service person.

For $150 anyone in the Henderson community can nominate an active duty member.

The current displays have been hanging since Memorial Day.

A new batch of service men and women will be unveiled in early November.

Army veteran Brock Croy nominated a family friend earlier this year.

The flag application deadline is October 7.
