LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Holiday time is party time for a lot of people.

Whether it's the office get-together or re-connecting with friends, the cocktails tend to flow as we head toward Christmas.

Metro's DUI arrests are already up this year Nearing 10,000. People who've lost loved ones to drunk driving want you to plan ahead for a safe ride home.

News 3's Elizabeth Donatelli found some of them up on the mountain today reminding drivers what's at stake.

@vegassmitty. Sorry, but you are wrong. Check the census records. An average fatal accidents involving people between the age of 21- 44 involves DUI about 1/3. Not 1/10. That is something, to not be ignored. Also, dont forget, these stats don't count hit and runs. That makes the true average worse.

Sober drivers kill 10 times more then drunk drivers, where are markers for them?
