Kleinmond, South Africa (SportsNetwork.com) - Jean Hugo carded a 3-under 69 on Friday to claim a 1-stroke victory at the Vodacom Origins of Golf.

Hugo earned his 15th career victory on the Sunshine Tour at 7-under-par 137. It was Hugo's ninth Vodacom Origins of Golf series title.

The tournament was shortened to just 36 holes after the second round was suspended due to heavy winds and Friday's action saw rain also suspend play.

Hugo started fast with back-to-back birdies at the first and second, but then gave those shots right back with consecutive bogeys at the fourth and fifth to fall back to minus-4.

A birdie at the eighth moved him to 5-under at the turn and after trading a bogey at the 10th with a birdie at the 11th, Hugo closed his round with birdies at the 13th and 18th to claim the 1-shot win.

First-round leader Rhys West managed just a 1-under 71 during his second round at Arabella Country Club to fall into second place at 6-under 138.

Chris Swanepoel (71), Trevor Fisher, Jr. (72), Ulrich van den Berg (70) and Adilson Da Silva (71) shared third at minus-5.

Lava won't chase out some people

Updated: 10/30/2014 5:40:02 AM

PAHOA, HAWAII - OCTOBER 26: In this handout provided by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), A portion of the front of the June 27th lava flow burns through thick vegetation and a fence on October 26, 2014 in Pahoa, Hawaii. Scientists of the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory conducted ground and air observations of the lava flow from the Kilauea Volcano and determined that it was 510 meters (560 yards) upslope from Pa-hoa Village Road and the flow width was about 50 meters (55 yards) at the leading edge. Molten rock from the flow is inching its way towards homes in the town of Pahoa on Hawaii's Big Island where close to a thousand people live. (Photo by USGS via Getty Images) (Handout, 2014 USGS)
