LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- The economy took center stage in President Barack Obama's State of the Union address, but dozens of Las Vegans were focused on immigration reform and the local ambassador sent to represent their position.
It was very obvious that immigration reform was the issue many at a watch party in downtown Las Vegas wanted to hear. But a surprise for the group was some national cameo time for local advocate Alan Aleman.
Alan was invited to sit with first lady Michelle Obama during the president's speech. He was one of the first in Nevada to be approved for Deferred Action, becoming the state's poster child of immigration reform.
About 50 Las Vegans watched as the president also addressed such topics as reducing the deficit, curbing gun violence and providing preschool to every child in America.
