LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – An inmate at the Clark County Detention Center who had to be hospitalized after being restrained by corrections officers has died, according to a release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Luis Solano, 38, died Wednesday, 11 days after being transported to University Medical Center in critical condition.

According to the release, CCDC corrections officers attempted to subdue Solano, who resisted officers’ attempts to restrain him. An extended struggle ensued, lasting approximately three minutes.

Once Solano was restrained, officers realized he was unconscious and having difficulty breathing.

The exact cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Solano was in custody on charges of trafficking controlled substance-cocaine, conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substance act, and possession of controlled substance marijuana with intent to sell.

The investigation remains ongoing. Three corrections officers and one corrections sergeant were involved in this incident and have been placed on routine paid administrative leave, and their identities will be released after 48 hours.

Boy there sure are some people here passing judgment before all the facts are in. They must have been in CCDC once or twice to know all about this case.
