LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- A judge denied a request this morning by an attorney for an accused serial killer in Las Vegas.

Justice of the Peace Eric Goodman denied the motion attorney Alzora Jackson filed Thursday in an arraignment hearing for 62-year-old Nathan Burkett. Jackson said a video produced by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department could prejudice a jury.

Metro removed the video from YouTube on Thursday.

Burkett is charged with murder and sexual assault in the deaths of 22-year-old Barbara Ann Cox, in 1978 and 27-year-old Tina Gayle Mitchell in 1994. Police say they linked Burkett to the crimes while reviewing cold-case homicides.

Burkett pleaded guilty in 2004 to the 2002 strangulation of a woman in Las Vegas.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
