LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- A local judge could lose his seat on the bench over allegations of an inappropriate romantic relationship with a prosecutor.

Wednesday was the third day of a week-long hearing for family court judge Steven Jones before the Nevada commission on judicial discipline.

After 16 witnesses, the judicial discipline commission lawyers rested their case today.

The defense began their case with judge jones' lawyers asking to dismiss count alleging Lisa Willardson was actively litigating cases before the judge while she was romantically involved with him.

The commission denied Jones' motion to dismiss key counts.

The first few defense witnesses testifying for judge jones were family court Chief Judge Gloria Sanchez and Chief District Judge Jennifer Togliatti.

The defense is expected to call upon a total of 48 witnesses but Washoe County District Judge Jerome Polaha is the judge presiding over the hearing. He can potentially say at some point these are enough witnesses for Judge Jones' case.
