LAS VEGAS (Las Vegas Sun) -- The Las Vegas Valley Water District has confirmed John Entsminger as its next general manager to replace the outgoing Pat Mulroy, who led the agency for 25 years.
Entsminger, a senior deputy general manager at the district, was the lone candidate considered by the district board this morning.
His promotion was approved unanimously by Clark County commissioners, sitting as the Water District board. But a contract must be negotiated before the hiring is final.
Entsminger was the favored choice of Pat Mulroy, who plans to retire next month after a career in which she played a critical role in supplying water to the rapidly growing valley.
Entsminger has worked at the Las Vegas Valley Water District and its parent organization, the Southern Nevada Water Authority, since 1999.
A separate vote will be needed to confirm Entsminger as the general manager of the SNWA later this month, a procedural move required because the two water agencies have separate budgets, staff and governance.
Entsminger is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado and the University of Colorado Law School.
