LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Fugitive and former top drug prosecutor David Schubert was picked up in San Diego after he crossed the border.
The hunt for high-profile prosecutor is over for the former Clark County chief deputy district attorney who fled the country to dodge jail time linked to a 2011 drug conviction.
Schubert was picked up yesterday afternoon at the United States and Mexico border.
His attorney believes Schubert panicked and was coming back to the U.S. to turn himself in and that his client made a mistake--making a bad situation worse.
Schubert ran away to MKexico in an attempt to dodge a nine-month jail sentence.
He was arrested and convicted for buying $40 worth of cocaine back in 2011 and was supposed to turn himself in last Friday to begin a nine-month sentence, but never showed up.
His attorney and family placed Schubert in mexico, after he posted a picture of a beach in Mexico on his Facebook page.
