LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – Records from the Clark County Detention Center show that Las Vegas Constable John Bonaventura was arrested Tuesday night for DUI and speeding.
Nevada Highway Patrol Information Officer Loy Hixson said a call came in at 8:30 p.m. concerning a suspected drunken driver on U.S. 95 and Boulder Highway. Troopers observed a constable’s vehicle speeding southbound on the 95.
The vehicle was stopped, and Bonaventura submitted to a field sobriety test. Troopers say he failed it. He was booked into CCDC after an evidentiary test.
The arrest comes at a poor time for the beleaguered constable’s office. Clark County commissioners will discuss the possible elimination of the office at Tuesday’s meeting, a process that could take until 2015.
