LAS VEGAS (KSNV — The highest percentage of unemployed veterans are those who served post-9/11. One group is working to change that by stressing the importance of hiring veterans.

Life After Active Duty conducted a public forum and Q/A discussion Tuesday night on the value of hiring military veterans and the contribution they make to the workplace.

The panel discussed the current job market and the hiring initiatives that corporations and local community organizations are introducing to assist military veterans during their transition to civilian employment.

Eva Secchiari, LAAD executive director; Ross Bryant, director of UNLV’s Office of Veteran Service and former commander of the UNLV Army ROTC; Steve Gregg, president of S. T. Gregg & Associates; Anand Aniar, commissioner for the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority for the city of Henderson; and moderator Nathan Atkins, general manager/owner of Orange Theory Fitness, participated on the panel.
