LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Wait times for patients at southern Nevada Veterans Affairs facilities was the subject of yet another meeting today.
Nevada's legislative committee on senior citizens, veterans and adults with special needs met with lawmakers today to discuss wait times.
A recent audit found that a shortage of doctors increases wait times.
VA officials say it's tied to supply and demand and that they struggle to provide salaries competitive to the private sector.
"What they can provide based on their level to incentivize and hire doctors, nurses, caregivers, service providers at their hospitals is not competitive," said Caleb Cage, executive director of the Nevada Office of Veterans Services.
That issue may not end soon.
State representatives say revenue continues to be the main hurdle in shortening wait times.
