I hope anyone who reads articles on mining spends a little time on research. The mining debate has been ongoing for some time and there are a lot of misconceptions. The mining indusry not only pays a large amount of taxes to the state, you have to think about the wages provided to their employees. Those employees help drive the economy of Nevada, they spend that money locally generating more tax revenues for state and local entities. The industry also donates large amounts to local charities, schools and provides scolarships. If anyone says mining does not contribute fairly to this state then they have not actually taken the time to look at everything mining provides, it goes way beyond a dollar figure paid to the state.
