LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – A man accused of causing and leaving the scene of a multivehicle car accident that left a man dead Friday night was released on bail before his scheduled court hearing this morning.
Thomas Rossnagel, 49, was released on $43,000 bond. The Clark County District Attorney’s office wants the court to place a larger bond on Rossnagel within the next couple of days. If it is approved, Rossnagel will be arrested again.
Rossnagel is accused of starting a chain-reaction crash Friday night on Interstate 215 near Sahara that killed Manuel Diaz, 58, of Las Vegas.
Rossnagel has been charged with two counts of hit-and-run resulting in injury or death, a felony; failure to have full attention to driving; failure to report accident to police; and failure to render aid in an accident.
A new bail hearing is set for 7:30 a.m. Oct. 3. Rossnagel’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Oct. 31.
