NORTH LAS VEGAS -- Police officers have arrested a 21-year-old Las Vegas man for six felony charges in connection with the Oct. 31 crash that killed a 17-year-old girl and severely injured an elderly couple at Ann Road and Coleman Street.
Leonard Novell Walker II was driving a 2000 Dodge Dakota west on Ann Road when he struck the passenger side of a 2000 Chrysler sedan occupied by Savannah McInnis, 17, her 2-year-old son, a 74-year-old man and 72-year-old woman. McInnis died at the scene, the elderly couple was hospitalized in critical condition and the toddler suffered a minor injury.
Walker remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Evidence suggests that Walker was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and that his blood alcohol content was over the legal limit.
Investigators estimate Walker’s vehicle was traveling more than 77 mph in a 45 mph zone, which presented a reckless disregard for the safety of other motorists.
Walker faces three counts of reckless driving resulting in death or substantial bodily harm, one count of DUI causing death, and two counts of DUI causing substantial bodily harm.
His bail is set at $200,000.
Since the crash, the elderly woman was released from the hospital where her husband remains in critical condition.
