LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3)-- A 22-year-old man was critically injured early Sunday after crashing his Mazda into a power box and a light pole in the Northwest, according to Metro.
Ryan Small, 22, of Las Vegas crashed his 1998 Mazda Protege around 5:25 a.m. on Buffalo Drive near the intersection of Gilmore Avenue, police said. Small was transported to UMC Trauma with critical injuries, according to police.
Evidence at the scene indicates that the Mazda was traveling northbound on Buffalo Drive when the driver lost control, police said. The car began sliding sideways across the center line into the southbound travel lanes before ultimately striking a power box and light pole, officers said.
Officers shut down the roadway for more than five hours after the crash.
NV Energy spokesman said that the crash did not cause any reported power outage in the area. The crash remains under investigation by police.
