LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- The man killed by Metro SWAT officers Sunday morning during a standoff event south of the Jean Airport has been identified.

Ronald Wayne Tate, 59, was killed when he pointed a rifle at SWAT officers as they set up a perimeter around his recreational vehicle.

The Clark County coroner's office said Tate died of gunshot wounds to the head and chest. The coroner did not list a residence for Tate.

Officer Charles Moser, 44, has been identified by Metro as the SWAT member who shot Tate around around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Sunday morning, when LV Extreme Skydiving employees found Tate's RV in the drop zone for parachutists, they asked Tate to move the vehicle. He refused and threatened to kill them. He pointed a handgun at them and they left the scene and called Metro.
