LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- A 38-year-old Las Vegas man was killed when he apparently ran a stop sign and hit another vehicle early Sunday in the northwest part of the valley.
Three other motorists suffered minor injuries.
The accident was reported at 2:31 a.m. at North Durango Drive and West Washburn Road, according to a Metro news release.
Metro says that witness statements and evidence indicate a 2003 Toyota Tacoma was traveling west on Washburn Road approaching the stop sign at Durango Drive.
A 1995 Chrysler New Yorker was traveling south on Durango approaching Washburn. The Toyota failed to stop for a stop sign and hit the left side of the Chrysler. The Chrysler came to rest on the southwest corner of the intersection.
The Toyota overturned and ejected the driver. The pickup came to rest in an upright position. The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger was transported to UMC Trauma with moderate injuries.
The operator and passenger of the Chrysler remained at the scene. Both suffered minor injuries.
The death was the 13th traffic related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction in 2014. This collision remains under investigation.
The name of the man who was killed will be released by the Clark County coroner's office.
