LAS VEGAS -- Metro police arrested a man with a self-inflicted gun shot wound near scene of a deadly apartment shooting on Monday night.
Metro Dispatch Center received a call on January 14 at approximately 6:15 p.m. of shots fired in the area of the 400 block of Page Street in the Northeast part of the Las Vegas Valley.
Arriving patrol officers found a deceased adult male on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. the LVMPD Dispatch Center received a call of a possible shot fired and a man lying on the ground in front of an apartment building located in the 4500 block of East Bonanza Road.
Arriving patrol officers located an adult male suffering an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
The male, later identified sas Michael Roy Smith, 24, of Las Vegas, was transported to the UMC Trauma Center in critical condition.
During their investigation Homicide Detectives were told that several males had been outside of the residence on Page Street and became engaged in a verbal dispute where multiple gun shots were heard.
One person was killed at the scene and the remaining males fled.
Smith made his way to the apartment complex on East Bonanza Street where he suffered what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The investigation into the homicide on Page Street has identified Smith as the suspect in that crime.
Smith, remains hospitalized, was arrested and booked in absentia for one count of murder with a deadly weapon and one count of attempt murder with a deadly weapon and remains hospitalized.
The Clark County Coroner has identified the deceased victim as 40-year-old Carlos Randle. The cause of death has not yet been released.
