LAS VEGAS -- Metro has identified the officer who shot a man holding a knife on Calico Fields Street on Monday.
The officer has been identified as Sgt. Sara Bradshaw, 45. Bradshaw has been employed with the Metro since August 1995.
Sgt. Bradshaw is assigned to the Patrol Division, Northwest Area Command, and has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this event.
Patrol officers responded to the residence and began to set up a perimeter. The officers attempted to establish communication with the occupants of the residence by telephone and bullhorn.
As officers approached the residence, they observed a male behind a vehicle wearing a mask, hat and sunglasses. Officers gave the suspect verbal commands, which he ignored.
The suspect then advanced on the officers with a large knife raised over his head. The officers fired a low lethality shotgun as well as handgun to stop the suspect’s attack.
The suspect fell to the ground, and he was taken into custody and transported to the University Medical Center Trauma Center.
The suspect, later identified as Kyle Kuhn, 31, is facing three counts of assault with deadly weapon against a police officer, and one count each of resisting a police officer with a weapon and battery domestic violence.
