Metro: Woman struck by a UPS vehicle has died

LAS VEGAS -- Metro at approximately 3:12 p.m. reported an accident involving a UPS vehicle and a woman.

Few details are available but metro said the woman was not in a crosswalk while crossing Swan Ridge Ave. near Pebble and Eastern. She died a short time later.

I was so sorry to hear about the death of this woman and sad for her family. I do need to say that David the UPS driver is our regular delivery person and is one of the most considerate, polite, and hard working people you would ever meet. I feel bad for the whole situation. My thoughts are with everyone involved in this.

I am not sure of the details of this recent fatality, however, I will say that being a pedestrian is dangerous in LV/Henderson. The sidewalks are too small and close to traffic as well as the bus stops. There needs to be more space between the walkways and the streets.
