LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – Police are investigating after a maintenance worker found a baby dead inside a Las Vegas apartment complex trash bin at an apartment complex in the 2800 block of Rancho Drive.

News three's Marissa Mike has more on the investigation as Metro looks for who this child belonged to.

Officer Bill Cassell says a worker reported finding human remains about 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Rancho Mesa Apartments, near the North Las Vegas Airport.

Cassell says police believe the baby was left there within 24 hours of when it was found, but were still trying to determine the baby's age, gender, race, and cause of death.

At this point we don't know if the baby was thrown in the trash can alive or dead, Or who did it.

We do know that  the child is somewhere between three- and six-months-old and was found wrapped up inside the trash dumpster. The baby was covered and officers were unable to immediately tell if this was a boy or a girl.

Cassell asks anyone with information about the infant to call police.

The known race of the baby will go a long way in helping in the investigation.

Whom ever did this to this baby, when found guilty. Should be given a free helicopter ride into the middle of Death Valley, in the middle of summertime, dropped off, stripped to just their underwear and turned loose, with no food or water. If by chance they could make it back, just shot them. There is NO EXCUSE for this
