LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- Metro police officers searched the office and home of Las Vegas Constable John Bonaventura, investigating whether a controversial recording between the constable and a Clark County commissioner was legal.

A profanity-laced phone call between Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins and Bonaventura was made public recently.

Collins said publicly and to Commissioner Steve Sisolak he never gave permission to tape the conversation.

Under Nevada's wiretapping law, it is illegal to record a phone call unless both parties consent.

Detectives are looking for evidence that would corroborate a violation of the illegal wiretapping law.

Attempts to contact Bonaventura were unsuccessful.

Bonaventura, whose constable’s office was eliminated, lost to Mary Beth Scow for a county commission seat in the Nevada primary this month.
