PAHRUMP, Nev. -- This missing 80-year-old Pahrump man who disappeared Sunday was found dead in his car Monday afternoon by Nye County Sheriff’s deputies.

Raymond Callahan, 80, was last seen about 8:30 a.m. Sunday after leaving his home in the 2200 block of South Blagg Street in Pahrump, according to officials. He was driving a white 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe with the Nevada license plate 218 VRE.

Deputy Jennifer Jonas responded in regards to a possible missing person and using information obtained from the family was able to search for possible places for where Callahan may have gone.

Family member has said Callahan left his residence at approximately 8:30 a.m. to possibly go get coffee and take a drive as often did often on Sunday.

Deputies and Detectives from the Sheriff's office searched local establishments and checked surveillence for possible sightings of him. Flyers were made from a photograph that was provided by the family at the time of the report and shown to businesses around the valley and to be given to search and rescue.

Deputy John Bergstrom was contacted to activate Pahrump Search and Rescue that afternoon. Callahan, however, did not have a cell phone with him. Search and Rescue continued into the late evening with the search and then continued the search on Monday in the early morning.

Las Vegas Metro assisted in the search in the morning with a helicopter over the valley in hopes of spotting Raymond's white 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe on the outskirts of town.

Around 3 p.m. Deputy Bergstrom located the vehicle and Callahan. Callahan was identified and pronounced deceased on scene. No signs of foul play are suspected at this time.
