Orchard Park, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Buffalo Bills released long-time punter Brian Moorman on Friday and it looks as if he is calling it a career.

In a letter released through his P.U.N.T. Foundation, Moorman said, "It may be the end of a career, but it's certainly not the end of a friendship."

Moorman averaged 43.8 yards per punt during his 13-year career, which was all spent with Buffalo except for 12 games in 2012 with Dallas. Last season, he punted 61 times for an average of 41.2 yards.

Moorman's P.U.N.T. Foundation was created in 2004 to make a difference in the lives of children in Western New York who are fighting cancer.

According to his letter, he plans to continue his work through his foundation for patients in Western New York.

On Friday, the Bills also released linebacker Xavius Boyd, defensive tackle Landon Cohen, tight end Dominique Jones, cornerbacks Kamaal McIlwain and Sam Miller, quarterback Jordan Palmer, fullback Evan Rodriguez, wide receiver Naaman Roosevelt and offensive lineman Jared Wheeler. The team placed cornerbacks Mario Butler and Bobby Felder and tight end Tony Moeaki on the reserve/injured list.
