Motorcyclist killed near Dean Martin Drive, Tropicana

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – A motorcyclist was killed this morning after he lost control of his vehicle near Dean Martin Drive south of Tropicana Avenue.

According to a Metro news release, the accident occurred around 1:25 a.m. Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate a 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle with a single rider was traveling northbound on Dean Martin Drive approaching a north to northwest bend in the roadway. The rider failed to maintain the travel lane and ran off the right side of the roadway onto the east sidewalk.

The motorcycle and the rider continued along the sidewalk and a raised concrete wall barrier. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest in the northbound lane of Dean Martin Drive. The motorcycle rider, a 28-year-old Las Vegas man, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.

This collision was the 113th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2013. The collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigation Section.
