NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – An elderly North Las Vegas man struck in a crosswalk in late February has died from his injuries.
Andras Toth, 78, died June 2 at Valley Hospital, according to a North Las Vegas Police Department news release. The crash happened at 2:13 p.m. Feb. 28 in the intersection of North Las Vegas Boulevard and Tonopah Street.
Witnesses reported Toth started crossing North Las Vegas Boulevard with a green walk signal, but he was moving slowly. The signal changed before Toth reached the other side of the street. At that time a 1985 Toyota Tercel, driven by an 82-year-old North Las Vegas man, was traveling northbound on North Las Vegas Boulevard.
Witnesses reported that the vehicle had a green light and proceeded through the intersection, striking Toth.
Toth was immediately transported to UMC Trauma then transferred to a rehabilitation center at Valley Hospital.
A request for charges against the driver will be submitted to the district attorney’s office at the conclusion of the investigation.
This is the fifth traffic fatality in North Las Vegas this year.
