CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Board of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange completed final interviews Thursday afternoon and unanimously selected Bruce Gilbert of Addison, Texas.

Gilbert is a senior executive and former litigator with extensive experience in legal, business and insurance environments, Bruce has specific expertise in the design, implementation, and analysis of employee benefit programs.

His areas of knowledge include managed care systems, medical coverage, ancillary and voluntary benefit offerings, and Section 125 cafeteria plans.

Bruce’s professional life has included practicing law, overseeing regional operations for a Fortune 100 healthcare company and serving as Benefits Administrator for the State of Ohio.

A graduate of Dickinson College and the Duquesne University School of Law, Bruce became involved in insurance administration after more than a decade as a successful trial attorney.

His accomplishments include managing the operations of a multi-state third party administrator, negotiating reinsurance commutations, oversight of marketing for a managing general agency, and the identification and codification of best practices in healthcare.

“We are pleased to have Mr. Gilbert in the position of Executive Director,” commented Board Chairwoman Barbara Smith Campbell. “Mr. Gilbert is poised to lead the Exchange through the upcoming transitions and ensure that Nevadans are able to effectively sign up for quality health insurance through Nevada Health Link.”

Gilbert takes over the post vacated by Jon Hager who resigned in February amid "technical glitches" with the website.

The board recently decided to dump Xerox, the company contracted to build and maintain the website and join the federal healthcare website.
