LAS VEGAS -- Today is President's Day which means some people had the day off work but not Nevada lawmakers.

Legislators are planning quite the party the state 150th birthday.
Lawmakers used President's Day to celebrate Nevada's 150th birthday. However, it's early since Nevada doesn't turn 150 until October 31 2014 but the party starts this October.
The birthday decorations went up today at the legislature building wth lots of artwork installed this morning. There are iconic pictures of the Hoover Dam and the old west decorating the wall.
Senator Debbie Smith introduced the resolution that honor's Nevada's anniversary. Smith says sesquicentennial is about celebrating Nevada's statehood, not only where we came from but where we're going.
