NORTH LAS VEGAS -- North Las Vegas is bringing on a former official from Mesquite to be its new city manager.

City officials on Wednesday hired Timothy Hacker to replace outgoing Acting City Manager Maryann Ustick.

Ustick has accepted an offer to be city manager in Destin, Fla.

Hacker's open-ended contract includes an annual salary of $180,000 and a benefits package similar to what North Las Vegas department directors get.

Hacker's 22 years of experience in local government include a post as city manager in Mesquite. He has a master's degree in public administration from Southern Illinois University and a bachelor's degree in community and regional planning from Iowa State University.
