HENDERSON (KSNV MyNews3.com) — In two unrelated incidents, parents of students at O’Callaghan Middle School say they were not alerted quickly enough about potential threats to their children.

The parents say they heard from their kids before hearing from the school.

One mom says her 11-year-old daughter called her after school to tell her another student had pulled a gun on her on school grounds. She says staff from O’Callaghan Middle School did not call her. Instead, she had to go to the school herself to speak with administrators.

In another incident, a mom says her 13-year-old told her another student pulled out a knife and threatened her during lunchtime.

However, the Clark County School District says there is no record of weapons found at the school recently.

CCSD says schools take many precautionary measures, and when they can, they want to minimize alarming parents.
