NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- One man is dead and a suspect is being sought as a result of the first homicide of the year in the Las Vegas Valley.
North Las Vegas police said the shooting occurred about 11:55 p.m. Saturday in an apartment complex at 3301 Civic Center Drive near Cheyenne Road.
Investigators said the man was standing on the west end of a common area in the middle of the complex when he was shot. Arriving officers found the man on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He died at the scene.
Police said the shooter may have fled on foot or in a vehicle. The suspect's whereabouts are unknown and detectives have not released any suspect information..
The Clark County coroner's office will release the victim's identification and cause of death after an autopsy and notification of relatives.
