LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Las Vegas is a town that thrives on creating a buzz and the buzz about this weekend's Life is Beautiful Festival is reverberating around the planet.
News 3's Jerry Brown previews the downtown event that organizers promise will be world-class.
Event organizers and city officials convened at Las Vegas City Hall to layout the framework for what should be Las Vegas' latest headline-grabber -- the inaugural Life is Beautiful festival.
“We wouldn't do it anywhere else,” said Life is Beautiful CEO Rehan Choudhry.
Festival founder Rehan Choudry says the vibe given off by downtown perfectly complements the message of his multi-faceted event.
“We've got such a passionate group of people living in the city who want more,” Choudhry said.
Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman guarantees downtown attendees this weekend will be on to something new.
“It started as a small idea and it has just exploded, because we have chefs coming in, we have all these wonderful bands that are going to be performing, we have a whole learning element to it and we have an artistic element,” Goodman said.
Much of the downtown area will be roped off Saturday and Sunday.
“I think we are prepared very well for twenty thousand people,” Goodman said.
Local businesses News 3 spoke with in the restricted zone appeared buoyed by the prospect of thousands of potential new patrons. Kent John's is a co-owner of Atomic, a watering hole with a prime Fremont location across from one of the musical stages.
“Last night it looked like bees around a beehive last night at 9 o’clock at night, I mean it's crazy busy but it's cool,” Johns said.
